Mariska Hargitay Can't Say No to This Snack: "I Know I'm Somebody Who Needs..."
The Law & Order: SVU icon loves a sweet treat.
Personal health and wellness have long been some of Mariska Hargitay's priorities, but that doesn't mean the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star doesn't indulge in sweet treats occasionally.
In a 2009 interview with her Joyful Heart Foundation organization, Hargitay spoke about wellness, her eating habits, and, of course, the delicious snack she can't live without. For Hargitay, drinking plenty of water has always been a key element of her daily routine, but she admitted that a particular sugary treat is not a want in her diet but a need.
"I drink a lot of water. I try to breathe — I hold my breath when I'm stressed. And I do everything in moderation. I know I'm somebody who needs dark chocolate in my life, as much as I try to give up sugar," she said.

Of course, Hargitay's diet isn't just water and dark chocolate candies — it's all about balance, after all.

"Another snack that's super-simple is apples with almond butter; it's sweet, but, there is protein. And my decadent snack is really good pears with truffle cheese," she explained. "Oh, and edamame."
"Our health is the most important thing, truly, that we have. If we don't have that, we don't have anything," Hargitay said. "This time has made me learn how to take care of myself, listen to my body, and know when I have to rest. Women are such amazing multitaskers; it's a blessing and a curse. We want to do it all and, the fact is, we can't! So it's been a lesson for me to stop."

The two actors have a 25+-year history of friendship, both on-screen and off. Yes, Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson are ride-or-dies in the squad room, on the streets, everywhere.
