Migration Star Elizabeth Banks and Her Kids Met the Grinch on the Brooklyn Bridge
Banks and Seth Meyers shared their opinions on kids' movies during her Late Night visit, and Banks shared an incredible photo of a Grinch her family met in NYC.
Actress and director Elizabeth Banks is excited to star in Migration, a movie her whole family can enjoy—and Seth Meyers feels the same way.
"I'm very excited to bring my kids," Meyers told Banks during her December 5 visit to Late Night with Seth Meyers, before asking if Banks was truly a fan, "because half of all kids' movies are dreadful."
Banks confirmed that Migration is a "perfect family movie for the holidays." Migration, which arrives in theaters December 22, follows a family of ducks and those they encounter on their titular journey. The cast includes Banks, Kumail Nanjiani, Danny DeVito, Awkwafina, and Keegan Michael-Key. "The jokes work on all levels," Banks adds.

"The point of the movie really is about getting out of the nest," Banks said. "The migration is all about joining the world, teaching that to your kids and knowing that there is no 100 percent safety. You just have to sort of go with it."

As Banks recounted to Meyers, she spent Thanksgiving 2023 with her husband and two sons in New York City. "It was actually the first time I had Thanksgiving in a restaurant, too," she said. "I didn't know that was a thing!"
"It's pretty amazing," Meyers agreed.
"Guys, I figured it out, let me tell you," Banks said.
"When you leave, and other people do the dishes? It's the best," Meyer said.
Like any lucky tourists, Banks and her family even got a celebrity sighting during their visit...kind of.
While walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, they encountered The Grinch. Not the official Grinch you'll find celebrating Grinchmas at Universal Studios this holiday season, though. It was, presumably, a New Yorker who decided to take it upon themself to suit up—quite convincingly, nevertheless, in a Santa jacket with a red strip of fabric tied across his forehead.

"He was Grinching out," Banks said, pointing to the photo that found him looking annoyed on a bench. "Like he couldn't believe how many god-darned people were on the Brooklyn Bridge."
As a fellow performer, Banks approved. "I was like, 'what an amazing character. This guy got up in the morning. He put on this outfit, guys. He did the full makeup face! I mean, he looked like he was right out of the movie." And, as Banks's photo proves, he truly did.
Meyers shared that in his family's 2023 Christmas card, his 2-year-old daughter, Adelaide, is dressed Grinch character Cindy Lou Who. "Our middle, Axel, was Max the dog, and then Ash wanted to be Max, but we were like, 'the suit doesn't fit you so you have to be The Grinch."
"So he was in a really bad mood that he had to be The Grinch," Meyers continued. "Then, we're taking pictures and I'm like, 'you have to smile.' And he was like, 'I'm being The Grinch!"
