St. Denis Medical Stars "Nerded Out" Over These Guest Stars

One element of the hit NBC comedy St. Denis Medical that has kept viewers watching week after week is its revolving door of guest stars who come through as patients and other characters.
From a beloved veteran actress to an epic Brooklyn Nine-Nine cameo, fans never know who is going to show up next, or what their new role is going to be.

It would be impossible for the cast to pick their all-time favorite guest star from this season (so far), but there were a few that made Allison Tolman and Josh Lawson a little starstruck.
St. Denis Medical stars shout out Season 1 guest stars
Portraying the determined supervisor nurse Alex, actress Allison Tolman has had a chance to rub elbows with every guest star who’s come through the hospital doors. And there’s one that definitely stood out to her among the rest.
“I nerded out pretty hard for Guillermo Diaz,” Tollman gushed to NBC Insider in a recent interview. “I was pretty excited about that.”
With actor Josh Lawson, who portrays the egocentric surgeon at the hospital, there was another actor who caught his immediate attention.
“I nerded out over David Paymer,” he revealed. “I wasn’t even in a scene with him, but I had to come to set just to meet him.”
Another honorable mention is actor Nico Santos, who became the first of many Superstore alumni to join the cast of St. Denis Medical. Which is no surprise, given the mockumentary’s co-creators Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin both worked on the Cloud 9 comedy.
“That didn’t even feel like a guest star, though,” Tolman continued. That felt like he was a part of the same family. We can bring him back, yeah.”
And with yet another Superstore icon offering to come to the fictional hospital and join the fun, the reunions between the two shows may not be done yet.
Needless to say, there’s been an exciting cameo in every episode since the show’s premiere, and right now, it seems like there aren’t any signs of stopping this tradition.
