Ariana Grande Performs "Imperfect for You" and "We Can't Be Friends" on Saturday Night Live - Watch
Grande sang two songs off her seventh album, eternal sunshine, on the March 9 episode of SNL—in addition to crushing it in two sketches.
The March 9 episode of Saturday Night Live brought Ariana Grande back to the show, performing songs from her seventh studio album, eternal sunshine (a title alluding to one of her favorite movies, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). In fact, it's inspired so much by the film that the video for her second eternal sunshine single, "We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)," directly references the fictional tech in the Jim Carrey film.
The episode hosted by Dune: Part Two actor Josh Brolin was Grande's second time as musical guest, after making her debut in 2014. Grande also pulled double duty as Host and musical guest on March 12, 2016, dazzling with her excellent impressions.
Grande's already having a huge year in 2024: "yes, and?" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January. Sharing a clip of the visual for eternal sunshine's lead single, which is itself a tribute to Paula Abdul's 1989 "Cold Hearted" video (Grande remains a massive pop culture fan), the singer wrote on Instagram, “it is overwhelming and so sincerely moving to see how many of you this song has resonated with and it is such a gift to feel so seen and held by you! thank you for your positivity, for your support and for everything. you have no idea how much you mean to me! this is absolutely because of and entirely for you. thank you!”
