Who Is Annie on Found? The Show's Latest Mystery, Explained
The words of a girl who was also taken by Sir drives Gabi to rescue people who've gone missing.
The extent of Sir’s evil just got clearer on Found, airing Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC.
We were already aware that 20 years ago he abducted Gabi Mosely (Shanola Hampton) as well as Lacey (Gabrielle Walsh), who’s currently an integral part of Gabi’s missing-persons team.
But now we know what Gabi has long known: She wasn’t the first girl who Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) took and held against her will. By the time he snatched her, he’d already taken Annie.
Who is Annie on Found?
Gabi’s connection with Annie was forged nearly a year into her captivity with Sir. On Episode 4, Gabi flashed back to 2002, when Sir forced her to read Julius Caesar.
When she failed to complete the assignment, Sir punished her.
“No dinner tonight,” he said. “You will be prepared tomorrow. Don’t test me.”
As Gabi held the volume of Shakespeare, she found a folded slip of paper that had been tucked into the spine of the book.
“Day 261. My name is Annie and I am going to live,” the note read. “If you’re reading this and Sir got you too, don’t give up.”

Gabi was shocked, as she asked aloud, “Annie, what happened to you?”
Two decades later, Gabi is still asking that question about Annie.
Except now, Sir is the prisoner. Gabi has imprisoned Sir in her basement and forces him to help with her cases.
Her latest mystery involved a 13-year-old, Matthew, who went missing.
“Read the file and something, anything,” she told Sir.
But Sir knew that the case was pushing Gabi’s buttons, so he brought up Annie to antagonize her.
“Your hope is admirable,” he said. “You really think you’ll find her, don’t you?”
A flashback revealed Gabi searched for more notes from Annie in books, coat pockets, couch crevices, everywhere, so Sir demanded to know why she turned the room upside down.
“I was wondering if there was a girl here before me,” she said.
That's how Sir realized she found out about Annie.
“She used to like to leave notes and secret places. You must have found one,” he said. “She was rebellious. Refuse to adapt.”
Gabi asked him what happened to her, but the answer was terrifying: “The same thing that will happen to you should you continue with this rebellion,” he said.
“We’ll have to begin again with someone new,” he said. “And just like Annie, you will never be found.”
Back in the present, Sir did provide the clue that enabled Gabi’s team to bring Matthew home safely. But another older boy was badly injured during the rescue. At home, Gabi broke down, smashing glasses, plates, anything within her reach. Amid the shards of glass and rubble, she was drawn back to Annie’s message: “Don’t give up.”
They’re words that drive Gabi forward. But what comes next? And will we find out Annie's ultimate fate?
We'll just have to keep watching Found, airing Tuesdays at 10/9c on NBC and streaming the next day on Peacock.
