Here's Why Blake Shelton Says Gwen Stefani Isn't Competitive on The Voice
The two will be coaching alongside one another for the first time as a married couple.
Blake Shelton made an action-packed stop at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on September 8. But in between a performance of his latest single "No Body" and a hilarious country duet with Fallon, the longtime The Voice Coach took a quick moment to talk about—of course—The Voice.
When asked about working alongside his wife, Gwen Stefani, on Season 22 of the show (which premieres Monday, September 19 at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock), he revealed that the songstress isn't quite as intense as he is when it comes to being a Coach in the competition. In case you've forgot, Shelton's team has won eight times.
"She's not that competitive," he said. "If she were sitting here right now, she would tell you she's not that competitive. But she loves to see these people that she works with on her team do well and win, hopefully."
This fact was on full display later in the night when the couple—alongside Fallon and model Gigi Hadid—sat down for a quick game of Pictionary. Though the duo were on opposing teams, Stefani couldn't help but make a quick shoutout to her husband when it was her turn to pick a letter and drop some clues.
"I'm gonna pick 'B' for Blake," she said. " 'Cause I love Blake!"
Stefani also gushed about her hubby in a recent promo for The Voice. "I know Blake so well," she said. "And what he does for some of the Contestants in the past 22 seasons, he really does help people. This is the real deal, this guy."
