Holly Brand Hit Her Most Impressive High Note Singing Reba McEntire's "Rumor Has It"
Brand was eliminated during the Live Semi-Finals episode — but this performance absolutely left fans wanting more.
From the get-go, Holly Brand has wowed The Voice fans with her classic country twang, penchant for yodeling, and magnetic stage presence. A member of Kelly Clarkson's super-talented team for Season 23, Brand's proved to be a serious threat in the competition, soaring through the Battles, Knockouts, and Playoffs with A+ performance after A+ performance.
Her singular, gorgeous voice took her all the way to the show's Top 8 Artists. Brand competed during the show's Live Semi-Final on May 15, offering an otherworldly take on Reba McEntire's "Rumor Has It." (Fun fact: McEntire was just announced as a Coach for The Voice Season 24, premiering this fall on NBC. She'll be joined alongside returning Coaches Gwen Stefani, John Legend, and Niall Horan.)
Brand did McEntire proud during this performance, which you can watch above. At one point, she delivered a high note so crisp and clear, it might just be her vocal highlight of the season. (And that's saying something, seeing as how Brand's been one of the show's most consistent vocalists since the Blind Auditions.)
Sadly, this performance wasn't enough to send Holly Brand to The Voice Season 23 finale. She was eliminated last night, as were Ryley Tate Wilson and Ray Uriel. Grace West (Team Blake), D. Smooth (Team Kelly), Gina Miles (Team Niall), Sorelle (Team Chance), and NOIVAS (Team Blake) were all voted to advance to the finale.
Brand posted a selfie to her Instagram Story after the results were announced and wrote, "Much more to come, but for right now...grateful."
Clarkson's had nothing but wonderful things to say about Brand on her Voice journey. “She’s like a country girl that hits many Riperton, Mariah whistle notes,” Clarkson said, referencing singers Minnie Riperton and Mariah Carey. “I think she just stands out."
Clarkson also raved about Brand, “You bring us to that place of struggling [when you sing], and it’s painful, but you’re going to overcome it. That’s a really cool thing that very few Artists can do. Obviously, your voice is ridiculous."
We couldn't agree more. And if Brand's IG Story is any indication, this isn't the last we've seen from her.
