Kelly Clarkson Somehow Managed to Belt the 'Monster Mash'
She's proven that she can truly pull any song off!
Kelly Clarkson just blessed us with her spookiest Kellyoke cover yet! This Halloween, she took to an elaborately decorated stage to sing an ultra-eerie yet gorgeous version of the classic novelty song “Monster Mash."
During the start of the song, Clarkson strutted slowly towards her band while ominous music began to play, the stage equipped with atmospheric smoke and haunted-looking willow trees. She eased into the verse, and when the song’s signature lyrics hit, a backup singer miraculously appeared behind her. “He did the monster mash, the monster mash, it was a graveyard smash,” she sang in a heavenly, ethereal tone.
When it was time for the second verse, Clarkson disappeared then reappeared onstage, her singing growing with intensity. When the chorus came around a second time, she flipped into some lovely falsetto before juxtaposing it with some super-human notes. When she sang, “The zombies were having fun, the party had just begun, the guests included the wolfman, Dracula and his son,” her belt achieved new heights. And to add to the mood, Clarkson's guitarist did an impression of a zombie rocking out.

For the outro, her background singers and drummer went all out, and just when audiences thought the song was over, she reappeared back onstage to finish things off with one more bold chant of, “They did the mash!” And that, my friends, is how you sing a Halloween song.
