Inside Luke Mitchell's Sweet Aussie Relationship with Rebecca Breeds

Mitchell and Breeds are both powerhouse actors, a match made in primetime heaven. According to New Idea magazine, Mitchell and Breeds first met in 2009 as co-stars of the Australian soap opera Home and Away, where they played Romeo Smith and Ruby Buckton, respectively. After dating a few years, the couple revealed their engagement in May 2012. The Chicago Med star later revealed that popping the question was among the hardest theatrics he's ever pulled off.

"Honestly, it was one of the most difficult things I've ever done in my life," Mitchell told New Idea. "I had the element of surprise; I didn't tell anyone what I was planning, not a soul, not even my parents. But pretending there was nothing special on my mind for three months before I actually asked her to marry me — that was the best acting I've ever done!"

Dr. Mitch Ripley appears in a doctor's coat in Chicago Med Episode 902.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the Aussie couple tied the knot in January 2013 with a celebration in Kangaroo Valley. Since then, they have supported each other through their respective acting careers, both achieving international success. Breeds announced the couple was expecting a baby in November 2024 by showing up with a baby bump on the red carpet for her film Kangaroo Island.

"VERY excited to share baby Mitchell," Breeds captioned the Instagram announcement, garnering thousands of likes from fans, many congratulating the couple for their exciting new chapter. Chicago Med's Dr. Mitch Ripley is officially a father, and Chi-Hards couldn't be happier for Mitchell and Breeds.
