Mariska Hargitay Remembers Her Stunning Blue Met Gala Gown from 13 Years Ago
The SVU star took a fashionable walk down memory lane.
The 2023 Met Gala was a star-studded night of lavish looks, so in honor of Met Monday on May 1, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit's Mariska Hargitay is strutting down memory lane by posting a throwback to her time at the 2010 Met Gala.
Hargitay took to Instagram to reflect on her look from the glamorous red carpet 13 years ago, which left no room for disappointment. For context: the 2010 Met Gala theme was American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity, making Hargitay the perfect attendee as she's currently the longest-running female actress in television history.
She strolled into the event looking exquisite in a silk navy blue dress that looked as though it was tailor-made for her exact fit. The ruffling on the bottom added even more dimension to the ensemble, with the dreamy hue perhaps serving as a gritty nod to her SVU tenure? The dress was paired with a stunning jeweled accent necklace, the staple accessory of the decade.
The 2010 event wasn't Hargitay's first time attending either; she also went in 2005 alongside her husband and former SVU guest star, Peter Hermann.
The throwback post earned the attention of Broadway icon and SVU guest star Betty Buckley, who gifted Hargitay with a slew of celebratory emojis by commenting, "😍👏👏👏👏." Another SVU fan commented, "You won the MET Gala back in 2010. Everyone else can go home now. 😍." Naturally, the grand majority of comments focused on Hargitay's elegance, poise, and stunning beauty. Some things never change!
Years later, Hargitay is still delivering non-stop looks when she shows up to an event. While attending the recent the 2023 Colleagues Spring Luncheon and Oscar de la Renta Fashion Show (where she received a special award) Hargitay had the honor of donning one of the designer's extraordinary floral pieces to walk the runway. The actress had a little help from her BFF Ali Wentworth, and both women looked absolutely beautiful as the cameras were sent into a frenzy.
Hargitay also showcased her supermodel strut at the Council of Fashion Designers of America awards in 2022, where Project Runway's Christian Siriano captured a sweet IG video of Hargitay posing and strutting in a classic black trumpet-style dress. As Siriano commended Hargitay for her effortless swagger, Hargitay threw some credit toward her late mother, the iconic 1960s bombshell Jayne Mansfield.
“Well don’t forget, J.M was my momma,” Hargitay quipped while giving a runway look that would have made her mother proud.
