Saturday Night Live is back and cast member Bowen Yang spent his time away in a very relatable way. In a new promo for the show’s Season 49 premiere, he joked he spent his summer binge-watching the USA Network original series Suits like everyone else.

How to Watch

Watch Saturday Night Live Saturdays at 11:30/10:30c on NBC and Peacock, streaming next day on Peacock.

The show has seen a popular resurgence on streaming as of late and, despite ending its nine-season run in 2019, has been the talk of TV fans everywhere as they either rediscover the show or are seeing it for the first time. However, despite being massively popular right now, the latest promo for the Pete Davidson-led premiere episode saw Yang joke about the show’s decidedly vague premise.

In the brief clip, Yang asks fellow cast member Chloe Fineman how she spent her time away. While she says she finally met her birth mom, Yang apparently embarked on a much more worthwhile endeavor.

“I watched all of Suits… I don’t know what it’s about,” he says.

“Suits?” a confused Fineman suggested, to which Yang agreed.

It’s true that anyone just giving Suits a passing glance may just think it’s about two guys who can really rock their suits. However, those who have binge-watched over the summer will know there’s much more to it than that, and we’re not just talking about Meghan Markle being there.

What is Suits About?

Suits follows the lives of the lawyers at the fictional high-powered New York law firm Pearson Hardman (that name changes but you get the idea — law office hijinx). The drama specifically follows the character Michael Ross (Patrick J. Adams) a gifted young man with a photographic memory who gets hired by hot-shot attorney Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) despite knowing he’s not a real lawyer and merely expertly faking his way through. There’s drama (legal and otherwise), comedy, romance and lots of attorney-to-attorney legal jargon and jabs being exchanged in each episode. So one can see why people like Yang spent their summer checking it out.

Who is Hosting the Saturday Night Live Season 49 Premiere

After their fun Suits jab, Yang and Fineman spot Pete Davidson hanging out in the studio eating a bag of chips. He reveals he has been living in the studio while his apartment is under construction. They politely say you need to be a cast member or host to… live in the studio, so he says he’ll go ahead and host.

So, to mark the show’s big return on October 14, the Bupkis star will be joined by musical guest Ice Spice for what is sure to be a much-welcomed return after a summer away.
