Rita Ora Dressed Taika Waititi in a Terrifying Shrek Costume for a Trip to Shrek's House
The Next Goal Wins director shared photo evidence (in which his wife is stunning dressed up as Fiona) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Actor and Next Goal Wins director Taika Waititi is obviously a huge fan of cinema. The films he's helmed include Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit, and the OG What We Do in the Shadows movie the TV show's based on. But does he love the 2001 animated film Shrek?
"Not that much," Waititi told Jimmy Fallon during a November 15 visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Yet—mostly out of love for his wife, singer Rita Ora—he traveled to the Scottish Highlands to visit a perfect replica of Shrek's house. (To be fair, the Airbnb listing's photos do look incredible). But Waititi's Shrek get-up was more disturbing than adorable, and we honestly prefer Bad Bunny's version.
Is Taika Waititi married?
Yes, he's married to pop star Rita Ora.
Waititi and Ora seem like an adorably in love couple, and the two secretly married in August 2022 after a year of dating. "She's no longer my pal," Waititi told Fallon. "She's my wife now!"

Fallon inquired about that recent trip to Scotland that Ora surprised Waititi with, which of course, wasn't just any trip to Scotland.
Taika Waititi and Rita Ora visited Shrek's swamp in costume
"Rita found an article online where they'd re-created a replica of Shrek's house in Scotland," Waititi said, explaining it was an AirBNB experience open to anyone. "And she said, "I think we're gonna go do that, and made me go to Scotland."
Waititi was game to make the trek into the Scottish wilderness. "It's in the middle of nowhere. It felt like a trick," he joked. "'Did I do something wrong? Is this the last time I'm going to see anyone?'"
When they got there, Waititi was stunned by how every detail truly looked like Shrek's house come to life. "It looked exactly like in the movie," he said.
And then, Ora furnished a mask. "She says, 'put that on,' and made me dress up as Shrek.'" Waititi made it clear that it was just the two of them on the trip sans crew, and "she just put green paint on herself" to look perfect as Fiona.
"Am I missing something?" Fallon asked. "Do you like Shrek?" Nope.
"Does she like Shrek that much?" Fallon pressed.
"Clearly!" Waititi said. "I didn't know about this infatuation."
While Ora makes for a flawless Fiona, the close-up of Waititi as Shrek is everything.
