A Bunch of Team Blake Alumni Just Gave Blake Shelton a Surprise Performance
Pass the tissues, because the legacy lineup of Team Blake Artists had Shelton emotional during his last-ever Voice finale.
The Voice Season 23 finale served as Coach Blake Shelton's last-ever time in the red chair, and it was an emotional ride from start to finish. With 23 seasons under his cowboy belt, Shelton's legacy is mighty.
During the Season 23 finale on May 23, Shelton got a visit from nine legacy members of Team Blake, who delivered a heartwarming musical tribute of Green Day's "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)." The performance will easily go down in The Voice's history books.
The lineup of returning Team Blake Artists that performed includes Season 1's Dia Frampton and Xenia, Season 2's Jermaine Paul, Season 3's Cassadee Pope, Season 4's Danielle Bradbery and Swon Brothers, Season 18's Todd Tilghman, Season 19's Ian Flanigan, and Season 22's Bryce Leatherwood.
Shelton has changed the lives of dozens of Artists since The Voice's 2011 debut, so the track served as a befitting send-off for him.
The former Team Blake Artists brought their A-game for Shelton's send-off, and they weren't alone. Season 1 Coaches Adam Levine and CeeLo Green also returned to The Voice stage to show Shelton how much they love him. Levine tore down the house with Maroon 5 while performing their new single, "Middle Ground." Meanwhile, CeeLo Green delivered a classic '80s medley that had everyone rocking.
“I’ve been wrestling with this for a while, and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from The Voice after Season 23,” Shelton said in a statement announcing his exit. “This show has changed my life in every way for the better, and it will always feel like home to me. It’s been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns, and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew and catering people; you are the best."
He continued, "It takes a lot of work, passion, and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week. I’ve made lifelong bonds with Carson and every single one my fellow Coaches over the years, including my wife Gwen Stefani! I have to give a huge shoutout to the singers–the ‘Voices,’ who come on this stage season after season and amaze us with their talent, and a special thanks to those who chose me to be their Coach. Lastly, it’s about y’all, the fans, who watch and support these Artists, us Coaches, and everyone at The Voice who are chasing their dreams. It would not happen without you!"
