The Phoenician Scheme Trailer: Benicio del Toro Leads an All-Star Cast in Wes Anderson's Latest
The star-studded affair arrives exclusively in theaters Friday, May 30.
The heightened, diorama-like aesthetic of Wes Anderson returns in the debut trailer for the director's latest effort, a family saga entitled The Phoenician Scheme (exclusively hitting the big screen Friday, May 30).
Anderson's second collaboration with NBCUniversal-owned distributor Focus Features after Asteroid City, the film stars Oscar-winner Benicio del Toro (Sicario) as Zsa-zsa Korda, one of the richest men in Europe, who may or may not be trying to fake his own death in the wake of constant threats and sabotage. Mia Threapleton (I Am...) plays Korda's nun daughter, Liesl, while an accented Michael Cera (Superbad) takes on the role of the family tutor, Bjorn.

“My next feature film will be linear, with Benicio del Toro in every shot,” Anderson teased to Le Monde about the project in 2023. “I can’t tell you much more than that except that it will be about espionage, a father-daughter relationship, and, let’s say, with a rather dark tone.”
Of course, with any Anderson film, the supporting cast is just as impressive as the stars, with appearances from such heavy hitters as Tom Hanks (The Americas), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Scarlett Johansson (Jurassic World Rebirth), Jeffrey Wright (Westworld), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), and plenty more.
