In 2020, Brown returned to the show via video chat. There, he talked about his fitness journey, taking piano lessons, and his son, Amaré, cutting his own hair. He also discussed returning to filming This Is Us (which wrapped in 2022).
"It's different, and it feels like home. You're away from it, and you're like, I wanna get back to this thing that I love. I love it so much. Not only the stories, but the people," he said.
Brown also made a Tonight Show appearance in August 2022, where he talked about his experience with fame and living in New York City. He told a funny story about seeing Jimmy Fallon himself playing guitar in front of a burger joint during his Saturday Night Live days, then went on to discuss what meeting his fans means to him.
"You never get tired of people saying, 'Hey man, I love your work,'" he said.
