Why Kelly Clarkson Says Blake Shelton Is Like Her 'Annoying Big Brother'
The two never fail to push each other's buttons on The Voice! Check out Season 23 this March.
Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson's playful banter goes way back on The Voice. Throughout seasons, the two never ease up on each other when it comes to their lighthearted teasing—and we love it.
“Blake, like, he’ll try and push my buttons 'cause he knows how upset I get,” Clarkson said in a promo for Season 15 of The Voice in 2018. “He’s like that big brother like that gives you noogies; he’s so annoying.”
But don't worry: She loves him all the same! “My favorite thing about the King of Country, Blake Shelton…I actually love Blake. My favorite thing about him is what attracted me to the show in the beginning. He really wants to push for his Artists. He really wants them to have a career afterwards. I love that,” Clarkson said in the same promo.
As for the upcoming Season 23, it doesn’t look like much will change between the country star and pop powerhouse. With Clarkson returning to the show this year after a brief hiatus, the season will surely have no shortage of sibling rivalry moments between the two.
We see this on display fully in a recent promo for Season 23. “This is my last season as a Coach on The Voice. After 23 seasons…” Shelton began to say in the video.
“He’s so tired!” Clarkson then interjected.
“I am tired of this,” Shelton said teasingly while pointing at her.
Shelton has won The Voice a whopping nine times, and Clarkson has took home four wins. If Shelton comes in first place in Season 23, he will be the only Coach in The Voice history to have double-digit wins. However, Clarkson isn’t going down without a fight.
"Will I go any easier on Blake knowing it's his last season? Do you know me at all? No!" Clarkson said in an interview with NBC Insider. "Do I hope secretly that he wins his last season? Maybe. But am I going to let him have it? No! I'm going to work for my Artists, and I hope they win!"
