Kelly Clarkson Did a Surprise Coffee Shop Performance and Hit a Wild Whistle Note
Everyone in the room was completely stunned!
Kelly Clarkson surprised some lucky fans at a coffee shop with her voice!
On June 11, Clarkson uploaded a video of herself surprise-singing her new song "me" in a coffee shop in Los Angeles to a stunned audience. During the impromptu performance, Clarkson was accompanied by some ultra-talented backup singers while she sang with gusto.
Then, in a hilarious twist, Clarkson casually walked up to the counter and asked for a latte when the jaw-dropping performance was over.
"When you decide to #flashmob people at a random Blue Bottle in LA... 🎶 This song’s called #me and it’s part of my new album #chemistry (out june 23rd!!)@ourtonality @platform_la," Clarkson captioned the post.
As Clarkson said, "me" is a gorgeous new song off Clarkson's upcoming album, Chemistry. The tune was released this April as a teaser for the project, and the emotional lyrics emphasize the importance of self-reliance.
As for the much-anticipated album, Chemistry, it comes out June 23. This March, Clarkson explained to fans the inspiration behind the title.
"It's called Chemistry because I was trying to find a word — also, it might be one of the songs on the album— but I was trying to find a word that really described the whole thing," Clarkson said. "Because I didn't want everyone to think I was just coming out with some, 'I'm angry, I'm sad' [album], just one or two emotions. This album is definitely the arc of an entire relationship. A whole relationship shouldn't be just brought down to one thing. So there's the good, the bad, and the ugly kinda thing going on. Chemistry can be a really amazing sexy, cool, fun thing, but it can also be very bad for you. So that's why I named it Chemistry. I thought it was the perfect title to describe the entire album."
She also elaborated on her creative process in another Instagram post. "Having chemistry with someone is an incredible, and overwhelming, feeling," Clarkson wrote."It’s like you have no choice in the matter. You are just drawn to each other. This can be good and bad. This album takes you down every path that chemistry could lead you down. We decided to release [the first singles] 'mine' and 'me' at the same time because I didn’t want to release just one song to represent an entire album, or relationship. There are many stages of grief and loss on this album. Each song is a different stage and emotional state."
