Mariska Hargitay Had the Sweetest Message for Her TV Son When He Returned to Set

Ryan Buggle is back for SVU Season 25!

By Elizabeth Logan

Benoah is almost back! To celebrate the start of production on Season 25 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, actor Ryan Buggle, who plays Olivia Benson's (Mariska Hargitay) adopted son Noah on the long-running procedural, posted a picture of himself on Instagram outside of his trailer on set, and of course his TV mom had to jump in the comments with kudos.

How to Watch

Watch Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

"25!! Let's go!" wrote Buggle in a caption, holding up a two and a five. Hargitay commented, "Be still my benson heart♥️," which immediately racked up hundreds of likes from #Benoah fans eager to see mother and son reunited.

"Working with her is like a dream," Buggle said of his on-screen mother in an interview with People. "My favorite part of being on set is definitely creating the friendships that I have, the friends and family."

"Something recently I learned about acting — from Mariska, actually — is to always act with your heart and come from a real natural place," he said. "My favorite thing about her is that whenever we're on set, it's always an acting class. I really love her kindness."

He added, "Mariska definitely knows me, Ryan, because sometimes when we're filming a scene instead of saying 'Noah,' she's like, 'Oh, Ryan.' Then she's like, 'Oh, I messed up!'"

Benson and Noah's story on SVU

SVU fans will certainly remember the character's tragic origins: born to a sex worker and her assailant, Noah was later sold to a pornography producer and eventually left a ward of the state, all before he could talk. After taking temporary custody of the boy, Benson bonded with him, and legally adopted him. Despite a brief kidnapping by his biological grandmother (Brooke Shields), Noah has always felt safe under the protection of his strong, capable mom.

Mariska Hargitay's newest addition

In addition to her three children and her SVU son, Hargitay is a mom to recently adopted kitty "Karma," named, of course, after the Taylor Swift song lyric "karma is a cat, purring in my lap cuz it loves me." Since Olivia Benson inspired the name of one of Swift's felines, the moniker is only too perfect.
