St. Denis Medical’s Dr. Bruce Finds His First-Ever Protegee in Nurse Matt
If there's one St. Denis Medical staff member who can teach nurse Matt confidence, it's Dr. Bruce.
In the newest episode of St. Denis Medical, nurse Matt (Mekki Leeper) is hoping to shed his title of being the clumsy new guy in the ER once and for all. After his constant slip ups with both his co-workers and patients, he needs to become more confident in his abilities, and fast.
Frustrated, he turns to Dr. Bruce (Josh Lawson) for some advice. The surgeon, who never passes up a chance to gloat about his skills, decides to take Matt under his wing and mentor him in becoming confident.

His surprisingly in-depth training starts immediately, with testing Matt’s self confidence in front of a mirror and doing a simulation of stressful situations to see if the nurse can remain focused and calm under pressure.
Whilst Dr. Bruce was having his new mentee copy his movements, an emergency ensues when a woman with a serious puncture wound enters the hospital. Matt becomes frantic and starts running around, desperately trying to save her before it’s too late. Turns out, though, that this was all staged.
“I brought in an actress from the Merrick Community Playhouse,” the surgeon explained.
After finding out that the crisis was all just a part of Bruce’s lesson plan, and that Matt was left more aggravated and confused than when he first asked for his help.
And, when the surgeon tries to get him to continue with the training, Matt reaches his boiling point.
“You’re a jerk. I’m sorry to use a slur, but that’s what you’re acting like,” he ranted.
After Matt yells at him in front of the entire staff in the break room, Dr. Bruce begins to clap, letting him know that he had successfully passed his confidence test because he finally stood up for himself. The surgeon walks away, leaving the nurse completely stunned.
Will this experience mark the end of Matt’s awkwardness?
